Child and Family Programs

The Child and Family Worker helps support the Wollondilly community by providing Parenting Programs, Supported Play Groups and Family Fun Days for families with children 0-8 years. They also provide parenting tips for Young mums and Carers. The goal is to strengthen the relationship between parents and their children as well as strengthen the links between families and their community.

Tahmoor Supported Playgroup provide a safe environment for children and families to socialise and get support from the child and family worker. Information on child development, parenting strategies and other topics regarding children, families and the local area is also shared. Playgroups are held in various locations across the shire during public school terms.

Toylinks Mobile Toy Library Toylinks is an outreach Toy Library service that provides a range of large and small toys to lend to its members. The service also supports Parents and Carers with young children aged 0-8 by sharing information including parenting skills, techniques, health issues and child development with an emphasis on mothers up to 25 years.

Young Mother’s Support Groups This is a new group that provides young families with a space to get together and talk about the challenges they face whilst supporting each other. The group has guest speakers who can help with finance, child development, safety in the home and provide “freebies”.

Healthy Eating This is a two week workshop looking at healthy eating and wellbeing for children. The workshops explore: a balanced diet; how active children should be: and how food affects children’s behaviour.

Recipe for Reading This is a three week workshop that looks at the development of literacy for children aged 0-8. The program provides great ideas for children starting school and gives parents a guideline on child development and what to expect. Each week there is a “goodie bag” with lots of activities and information about the importance of early literacy.
